Humongous Hollows!
We are gearing up for the BABE (Bay Area Bead Extravaganza) show and a private jewelry show in November. But instead of busy producing more of my Flora and Fauna Series, or my Ginormous Capped & Cored focal beads, I have been playing with something new! To say that I am addicted to making these truly ginormous hollow beads is an understatement. ;) These beads go as large as over 40mm in diameter! You can gauge the size by the 1/2" silver caps. Some are currently uncapped and uncored and we are not sure if we should cap and core them all. Any thoughts?

Double Helix Kalypso!
Double Helix Kalypso will be released on 6 September! We were lucky to have picked up some pre-release at the ISGB Gathering. Kalypso is based on the test batches KA-356. Like Ekho, it's both striking and reducing. We love the many different effects we can get with Kalypso depending on how we work the glass as well as what we use it with!

ISGB Rochester Gathering Live Auction
When I was asked to donate a piece for the ISGB Gathering Live Auction, I decided to create my popular sterling silver asymmetical necklace. The debate was deciding between making a blue/green one or a magenta pink one. Double Helix's newest silver glass, Kalypso, won out!

Hayley's Current Murrini Collection
I have always loved murrinis and used to purchase them when I first started applying them on my beads for my own was not up to standard. After many trials and errors, my own murrinis finally were acceptable. Moreover, I found the process completely addicting! I love coming up with different color combinations as well as glass reactions. I realize that I have more murrini chips than I can possibly use myself. So when I started getting emails asking if I sell my murrinis, I decided it's time to share.
Since I am not in the murrini business, I don't plan on selling different mixes. Instead, I am selling exactly the ones I use myself regularly. Please note that the collection changes all the time, thus the name "Current Murrini Collection." What you get today and one month from now won't be the same! I offer them in packages of 50 or packages of 100. Each order will come with a reference sheet showing you some of the murrini chips as well as how they look applied.
I use silver glass (Double Helix, StrikingColor, Precision 104, George Tessman, TAG), many of which are odd lots that are no longer available or test batches that have never been released. I use sought-after glass that is currently out of production including, but not limited to, the amazing ASK (Arrow Springs Kugler) palette, Vetrofond Odd Lots, Effetre Cool Colors, CiM Unique, and Lauscha. All the glass I use is COE 104 to ensure compatibility.
Here are some of my beads with my murrinis:

All About Coring #1
There is a lot of confusion as to what size mandrels and what size sterling silver tubing to get to core beads that will fit Pandora/Biagi bracelets, a very popular European jewelry that's taking American by storm! Many lampworkers, myself included, are making sterling silver cored (and sometimes capped!) beads that fit these wonderful bracelets and necklaces. Visit our Etsy store for some of our creation!
The thickest part of a Pandora chain is 4.2mm and Biagi chain is 4.1mm. (I believe Troll is 4mm but I don't have a Troll bracelet so can't say for certain.) Most sterling silver tubings available from Rio Grande, Monsterslayer, etc. that have ID/inside diameter that fit the Pandora chain require a 1/4" mandrel. The problem is that lampworked bead made one 1/4" mandrels get large quickly rendering them useless for bracelets usage. In addition, the larger the mandrels, the more difficult it is to get the glass centered.
Debbi Hackeson/ginkodesigns worked with Indian Jewelry Supply to custom make a tubing that has a thinner wall (27 gauge) and require a 3/16" mandrel, yet still fit Pandora chain with a ID of 4.37mm (OD is 5.08mm). This has become the most used tubing size within the lampworking community of late.

Blown Vessel(s) Now on Etsy!
It has been almost a year since our last blown vessel was sold on our Etsy store, and we are ready to restock! One is up right now and the rest will soon be.
We love these wee hand blown vessels for they are hollow inside. Each comes with a cork so you may put in your favorite perfume or essential oil, add a chain and you have a beautiful pendant. All of our vessels contain silver glass so expect lots of wonderful colors (from the striking silver glass) and/or shimmering iridescence (from the reducing silver glass).
